Since before we had Garrett, we've heard (and used to agree with) comments about how the perfect spacing between kids is 2-3 years. While this definitely seems to be a great scenario, we have accepted a little different one for our family. Of course, we have wondered about the 4 1/2 year gap we will have between kids and how it will work out. This last week my niece Mikayla came to visit (with her mom and grandma too). She is exactly (to the day) 4 and 1/2 years older than Garrett. Even though he was super excited for her to come (as he is with all visitors--hint, hint), I really wasn't expecting too much interaction between the two of them. (2 years ago when we visited them in California, Mikayla questioned why so many of her cousins had to be so young?) Garrett of course was delighted to do just about anything with Mikayla--they drew pictures, played games, kicked the gigantic soccer ball, read stories and more! Of course, it wasn't perfect the entire time--they are 4 1/2 years apart after all--but it was so fun to have a little preview!
(2 years ago...Mikayla showed some patience with her chip-stealing cousin!)
(Now...a little more fun for both!)
